Archer Technologies Founder and CEO to Provide Expertise as Rapid7 Continues to Expand Vulnerability Management Industry Presence

BOSTON, Mass. – Sep 08, 2009 – Rapid7, the leading provider of unified vulnerability management solutions, today announced that security industry veteran, and Archer Technologies founder and CEO, Jon Darbyshire, has joined its Board of Directors.  Darbyshire brings more than 20 years of experience in the security, risk and compliance management space, and will provide immediate counsel to the long-term strategy and growth plans of Rapid7.

Darbyshire founded Archer Technologies in 2000 with a vision to create enterprise-wide IT risk and compliance management solutions that would replace traditional manual processes and disparate point solutions.  Darbyshire is known for his insight into IT innovation, highlighted by his recent presentation at the 2009 INTEROP Conference in Las Vegas where he discussed how recent surges in technology can help businesses cut costs, improve customer relations and increase revenue.  With this expertise, Darbyshire will provide additional insight into the risk and security space, helping to expand Rapid7’s already-successful business strategy.

"I look forward to becoming more involved with Rapid7 at this exciting time for the vulnerability management market," said Darbyshire.  "Today's changing security threats have greatly increased the need for dependable vulnerability management solutions, and Rapid7 has all of the ingredients that indicate continued success – a distinguished management team, a strong product offering, established partnerships and customer adoption."

Rapid7's award-winning NeXpose™ solution provides organizations across a variety of industries with the broadest level of vulnerability assessment scanning for Web applications, databases, networks and operating systems.  Designed to minimize the time spent eliminating false positives in security vulnerabilities, NeXpose quickly locates real threats, assesses their risk to the environment and devises a remediation plan that helps companies cut time and costs.

"To have someone of Jon's caliber join our board is truly an honor," said Alan Matthews, co-founder and chairman, Rapid7 board of directors.  "Jon has experienced immediate success at his own company, and we believe that his extensive customer and community involvement, coupled with his deep security experience, will help us to develop a long-term growth strategy that will complement Rapid7's momentum in the marketplace."
