Rapid7 Introduces The NeXpose Vulnerability Management Appliance

Product moves company to plug-and-play threat assessment capability

Boston, MA - September 27, 2005 - Rapid7, supplier of vulnerability management products, today announces the NeXpose Appliance, immediately available in three versions. Designed to meet the business objectives of the security group, the NeXpose Appliance I is for small companies that require regular system scans for detecting potential threats. The NeXpose Appliance II and III models provide larger customers with higher throughput capabilities. All the appliances offer centralized control, distributed assessment and consolidated reporting.

Configured for plug-and-play use, the NeXpose Appliance models are easy to install and employ. IT teams can perform proactive vulnerability scanning from a desktop without deploying and maintaining software.

"Customers now have the option of purchasing software or a plug-and-play appliance ready for secure access from a browser," states Alan Matthews, president of Rapid7. "More and more companies are realizing the importance of consistently auditing their business-critical assets to protect their brand and market value. The NeXpose Appliance offers comprehensive vulnerability management and risk reporting at a reduced cost, allowing broad asset protection for a minimum investment."

The NeXpose enterprise vulnerability management appliance scans devices, systems, software and Web server applications to locate threats, assess their risk to the environment, devise a remediation plan and implement the ticketing process. With its expert system core, NeXpose builds a vulnerabilities knowledge base and models potential targeted attacks to expose all existing threats. The NeXpose appliance also provides reporting capabilities that ensure compliance with governmental regulations and corporate security configuration policies.

Pricing

Customers purchase a NeXpose license based on the number of IP device addresses scanned, as well as the appropriate appliance for the network.

For customers scanning Class "B" environments (65,000 addresses), the mid-class Appliance II is recommended and priced at $4000. The high-end enterprise appliance is $5000 and designed to be the hub of an enterprise installation. NeXpose supports unlimited appliances for distributed scanning within a dispersed organization.
