Our March webinar was broadcasted & recorded on March 16th 2016. This broadcast included a Logentries demonstration by Mike Neville-O’Neill, followed by a live Q&A lead by Justin Buchanan and Matt Kiernan.

The webinar recording is available here.

Below is a summary of some of the features covered. To follow along, or to try the features for yourself, be sure to create a free Logentries account.

Query Log Data

Once you successfully get data into Logentries one of the first things you will want to do is query and visualize your log data.  Using the SQL like Logentries Query Language (LEQL) you can quickly extract the events you are looking for as well as produce on the fly visualizations using search functions like count, average, and percentiles.

To learn more about this robust and easy to use query language see the video below:

Dashboards

Use dashboards to create compelling widgets you can easily refer to frequently or leave up on a screen in your NOC. The best thing about Logentries dashboards is that you can quickly go from the high-level view right into the log data driving the visualization.

Watch the video below for a walkthrough of how to setup a dashboard widget:

Tags and Alerts

Tags allow you to highlight your important events as you view historical data and while viewing data in real time with the Live Tail. Tags can also be used as a filter to quickly locate the key events you are interested in.

Logentries offers a suite of alerting options including a basic alert, anomaly alert, and an inactivity alert. These alerts can be sent to you via email or any of our third party integrations.

The video below demonstrates creating a tag and configuring an alert:

Community Packs

The completely customizable dashboards, tags, alerts, and queries are extremely flexible. However, you do not need to build all of these functionalities yourself. We have many Community Packs available for popular technologies.  Import these packs to avoid recreating the wheel, to leverage your Logentries account in accordance with best practices for your technology, and to get insights from your data as quickly as possible.

Aggregated Live Tail

The final feature demonstrated during the Logentries Feature Walkthrough Webinar was the Aggregated Live Tail. The Logentries Aggregated Live Tail allows you to watch your logs flow into your account in real time. You can aggregate multiple logs together in this view, or view a single log. You can use the search box to specify a pattern so that only logs matching that pattern are shown in the Live Tail. You will also notice that any tags you have configured are applied in real time to these events as they flow in.   The Live Tail is all about immediate feedback, allowing you to see the effects of changes to code or infrastructure immediately. The Live Tail is also often used to monitor user behavior in real time.
