About the Team​
Rapid7's Proposal Strategy team is looking for a Senior Proposal Writer to join our team to support our Central and Enterprise business. Our team mission is to help our sales teams win more business by strategically positioning Rapid7 solutions. We are project and technical content managers who collaborate cross-functionally throughout the sales cycle to increase customer buying knowledge, communicating the Rapid7 story accurately and persuasively. As part of our team, you'll help ensure that we are focused on providing exceptional partnership across our internal teams for strategic opportunities, delivering gold standard proposals to our customers and prospects. 

About the Role

You'll be responsible for formulating clear and compelling responses, acquiring content from SMEs and team members as needed, translating content and client needs into effective messaging, ensuring that all submission requirements are met. You'll work closely with Sales Leadership to ensure that our processes are working effectively and efficiently, sharing relevant data and trends, and implementing improvements as required. You will also play a key role in contributing to the maintenance and expansion of our product and services reference content libraries, identifying areas for growth and new content for use both by Proposal Strategy in proposals and company-wide in a self-service capacity. 

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the Central and Enterprise RFP response and Statement of Work (SOW) creation efforts and serve as primary point of contact for those teams

  • Perform intake and evaluation of submitted RFPs; work with cross-functional response teams to make go/no-go decision and to determine the most appropriate response approach 

  • Provide end-to-end proposal management support from receipt to submission; maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders to clarify expectations, communicate roles and responsibilities, and ensure timely delivery of responses to customers and prospects

  • Generate draft proposals in response to customer requirements; work closely with cross-functional subject matter experts to complete all required proposal sections; edit to ensure grammatical and technical accuracy, as well as to ensure consistency of messaging, tone, voice, and brand throughout the proposal

  • Participate in the ongoing maintenance and creation of content in our reference content library; capture and modify content released across functions for inclusion; author new content both through partnerships with subject matter experts and continuous learning about Rapid7's portfolio

  • Develop and maintain training materials and strategies to enable teammates and internal partners (e.g., Sales, Sales Engineering, Customer Success Management)

  • Gather and perform analysis on proposal outcome data (win/loss); effectively communicate metrics to stakeholders

  • Proactively identify and lead opportunities for team improvement and cross-functional collaboration. Contribute to the evolution of proposal strategy, including competitive analysis and win theme development

  • Develop and maintain a broad understanding of Rapid7's complete portfolio of products and services 

The skills you'll bring include:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and 5+ years of professional experience required; degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business or related field preferred 

  • A proven ability in planning, producing, and delivering compliant and compelling proposals 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational, time and project management skills–ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines

  • Ability to work well independently and collaborate with distributed, cross-functional teams

  • Ability to coach and mentor junior members of the team and sales teams in persuasive writing and proposal best practices

  • Ability to partner well with stakeholders across multiple internal functions, primarily Sales, Sales Engineering, Consulting teams, Customer Success, and Legal

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office required; experience with Salesforce and Proposal Automation tools preferred

  • Demonstrate a Never Done approach to personal and professional growth and an eagerness and ability to learn

  • APMP Certification is preferred but not required; Experience or strong interest in Cybersecurity preferred
