Description

THTTPD versions 2.25b and prior contain a distribution of htpasswd which is vulnerable to (1) buffer overflow and (2) arbitrary command execution vulnerabilities that could allow a local attacker to compromise the machine.

  1. THTTPD/htpasswd fails to do proper bounds checking on user-supplied input before copying the information to internal buffers, which could allow an attacker to run arbitrary code.
  2. THTTPD/htpasswd fails to properly sanitise user input, which would allow an attacker to run an arbitrary command on the host machine.

With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
