Description

The K Desktop Environment (KDE) is a graphical desktop environment for theX Window System. The kdebase packages include core applications for KDE.A privilege escalation flaw was found in the KDE Display Manager (KDM). Alocal user with console access could trigger a race condition, possiblyresulting in the permissions of an arbitrary file being set to worldwritable, allowing privilege escalation. (CVE-2010-0436)Red Hat would like to thank Sebastian Krahmer of the SuSE Security Team forresponsibly reporting this issue.Users of KDE should upgrade to these updated packages, which contain abackported patch to correct this issue. The system should be rebooted forthis update to take effect. After the reboot, administrators shouldmanually remove all leftover user-owned dmctl-* directories in"/var/run/xdmctl/".

With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
