Description

The kdenetwork packages contain networking applications for the K DesktopEnvironment (KDE).A directory traversal flaw was found in the way KGet, a download manager, handled the "file" element in Metalink files. An attacker could use thisflaw to create a specially-crafted Metalink file that, when opened, wouldcause KGet to overwrite arbitrary files accessible to the user runningKGet. (CVE-2011-1586)Users of kdenetwork should upgrade to these updated packages, which containa backported patch to resolve this issue. The desktop must be restarted(log out, then log back in) for this update to take effect.

Solution(s)

  • redhat-upgrade-kdenetwork
  • redhat-upgrade-kdenetwork-debuginfo
  • redhat-upgrade-kdenetwork-devel
  • redhat-upgrade-kdenetwork-libs

With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
