Description

Certain versions of MySQL are vulnerable to a buffer overflow when a user-defined function is created. This would allow an authenticated attacker to gain control of the MySQL daemon. Note that successful exploitation of this issue is dependent upon the attacker possessing insert privileges on the mysql.func table; this mitigates the risk considerably.

Solution(s)

  • mysql-upgrade-4_0_25
  • mysql-upgrade-4_1_13
  • mysql-upgrade-latest

With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
