An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel before 5.1.8. There is a NULL pointer dereference caused by a malicious USB device in the drivers/media/usb/siano/smsusb.c driver. A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Siano Mobile Silicon MDTV receiver driver. An attacker, with physical access and a specially crafted USB device, can exploit this vulnerability, creating a NULL pointer dereference and causing the system to crash. The highest threat from this vulnerability is system availability.
With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
