Evidence of infection with the Qhosts trojan has been found on the system. This trojan installs itself by exploiting a vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer when the user loads certain infected web pages.
The Qhosts trojan will change the DNS settings on the machine to point common search engine sites (Google, Yahoo, Altavista, etc.) to captive servers which then display popup advertisements for online gambling and pornography sites.
With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
