Description

A Steam A2S_INFO request retrieves information about the Steam server, including its name, the game/map currently being played, the number of players and more. An A2S_INFO response is roughly 5x the size of the request, and because it utilizes UDP, this can be used to conduct traffic amplification attacks against other assets, typically in the form of distributed reflected denial of service (DRDoS) attacks.

Solution(s)

  • steam-restrict

With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
