Description

The vulnerability is caused due to the TLS implementation not properly clearing transport layer buffers when upgrading from plaintext to ciphertext after receiving the "STARTTLS" command. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary plaintext data during the plaintext phase, which will then be executed after upgrading to the TLS ciphertext phase.

Solution(s)

  • postfix-upgrade-2_7_3
  • postfix-upgrade-2_6_9
  • postfix-upgrade-2_5_12
  • postfix-upgrade-2_4_16
  • tls-starttls-post-tls-plaintext-injection

With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
