Help lead revolutionary innovation in engineering better security with Rapid7.  Located in Dublin, Rapid7's engineering team is utilizing cutting-edge technologies to drive forward our platform in the operations and security industry. We seek a self-organized and technical leader who is passionate, relentless and motivated to knock down barriers in order to "make it happen."

The ideal candidate will be an experienced devops engineer who has delivered systems in use by thousands, is self-motivated, and has demonstrated success working in a distributed organization.

As a member of the Platform Delivery team, the Engineering Manager will be a crucial element of a cross-functional team responsible for building the next generation of our cutting edge platform. The Engineering Manager will need to collaborate closely with different teamson planning, designing, developing and testing new features. 

The Platform Delivery team is a high-profile group that supports all Rapid7 products through dev tooling and cloud operations.  We work directly with developers to ensure high uptime of our SaaS products.  We strive to maintain a DevOps culture, empowering development while promoting security and reliability.  We're a global team with a local focus and works alongside our Threat Exposure Management team to bring the next generation of security solutions to our customers. 

We are looking for a talented, self-organizing leader with proven experience in making their team successful.  The ideal candidate will have a strong track record as an individual contributor on a high performance team in an agile environment. The candidate will have demonstrated proficiency building high throughput cloud systems . 

Experience with security technology development and/or compliance technologies is a plus.

The major objective of this role is to deliver the platform features to expand Rapid7's threat and exposure management product offerings.  This includes industrious productivity, mentoring of junior team members, and setting high standards for quality. 

The Engineering Manager is expected to work as an example to the other team members, and also facilitate for them and provide technical expertise and coaching as needed.  

We can measure success in this position through the delivery of results on committed projects and quality of features.


  • Manage a small team of engineers

  • Engage with other engineering teams to improve the lifecycle of services on our platform - from design to deployment to operation and maintenance 

  • Optimize our SaaS platform for performance and cost effectiveness 

  • Monitor and scale distributed services in AWS and clustered datastores such as Cassandra 

  • Participate in sustainable on-call incident response followed by blameless postmortems 

  • Automate infrastructure through Terraform or CloudFormation, Chef, and Docker/Kubernetes


  • Some experience leading small operations or development teams.

  • 4+ years of experience scaling SaaS services and infrastructure 

  • Goal-driven, positive attitude with strong communication skills 

  • Proficient in AWS services, including EC2, RDS, EMR, VPC networking, S3, etc. 

  • Comfortable with one or more of: Python, Ruby, Javascript, Java, Bash 

  • Working knowledge with one or more of: Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Ansible, Puppet 

  • Passionate about developer experiences
