The Job

The Platform Analytics team is responsible for unlocking the power of product usage data from our SaaS platform in order to build more cutting edge products, increase customer conversion rates and fuel growth.  Our data empowers Rapid7's business and products teams to make informed decisions using data-driven analytics.

The ideal candidate will be an inquisitive learner with a passion for data and analytics who can effectively collaborate with stakeholders across functional areas to create innovative data capture, data processing and analytics to align with company objectives.  Success in the role will require a self-starter with a passion for collaborating with others to solve problems.


 

What you'll do:

  • Build efficient and scalable processes to collect, manipulate, analyze and present large datasets for production level services

  • Collaborate on problem definition, data acquisition and visualization to iteratively improve solutions 

  • Handle and prioritize own projects and tasks 

  • Research and influence the architecture of the tech stack

  • Work in an Agile environment without restrictions on technical direction

  • Move fast in a cloud based deployment with ownership over full SDLC 

  • Focus on continuous improvements to push the business towards new and improved ways to use data to for better decision making

  • Initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance

What you'll bring:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Maths, Physics, Engineering, Statistics or equivalent technical field experience preferred 

  • 4+ years' experience in software engineering working with data pipeline, analytics and big data projects

  • Outstanding development experience with Java, Python or other programming languages in a Production K8s Environment 

  • Knowledge of commonly used design patterns like Pub/Sub Kafka Models, Microservices and RESTful API's

  • Familiarity and comfort with big data distributed storage / retrieval systems using AWS 

  • Experience in SQL and NoSQL scripting and databases

  • Previous experience with pre-processing and analyzing large data sets.
