Software Engineer II - D&R


Do you love solving complex problems with technology? Rapid7 is looking for Software Engineers to join our Belfast office. We are looking for accomplished engineers with a proven track record of delivery to help build our cloud based product portfolio. 

Working within our Detection and Response practice you will be working on building out the backend services of an expanding new service based around our innovative match engine system.


What you'll do:

  • Design and implement event driven cloud based services in AWS using technologies such as SQS/SNS, Serverless, RESTful API's 

  • On top of a core Java based platform you will find yourself involved with new and emerging technologies, constantly solving complex problems

  • Work with product managers, UX, and fellow engineers in a small team to deliver our services from inception to launch

  • Perform peer code / design reviews 

  • Be part of a high performing team tasked with solving challenging but interesting problems


What you'll bring:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in agile software development using Java ideally with Spring

  • Passionate about technology and solving complex business problems

  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud hosting services

  • Experience building software with relational databases (such as Postgres).

  • Experience integrating projects with continuous integration tools (like Jenkins)

  • Ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment 

  • Experience mentoring and developing junior team members

  • Wants to continuously evolve their technical knowledge

  • Configuration/deployment tools such as Maven and Docker

  • Experience with source control preferably GIT
