Role Overview

Rapid7 is seeking a creative and high energy person to join our savvy service desk team for a twelve month internship. You will be part of a community that is fanatical about security and on a mission to make an impact in the global technology ecosystem. The IT Helpdesk Intern's role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

As an intern at Rapid7 you will:

  • Provide local and remote helpdesk support and resolve problems to the end user's satisfaction

  • Modify workstation configurations

  • Utilise and maintain the helpdesk tracking software

  • Assist with on-boarding of new users

  • Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software

  • Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses

  • Manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware

  • Assign users and computers to proper groups in Active Directory

  • Upgrade user hardware and software as required

  • Create Knowledge Base articles

  • Evaluate Documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems

Successful candidates will be:

  • Currently enrolled in a BS degree in a related discipline

  • Knowledgeable about basic computer hardware, and its installation and maintenance

  • Experienced with desktop operating systems, including both Windows OS and Mac OS

  • Experienced in using Microsoft Office products

  • Knowledgeable about IP Networking and making hardware diagnostics

  • Exceptional at written and oral communication, and have strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning

  • Proficient at documentation

  • Able to absorb information quickly and use it

  • Enthusiastic about fixing things all the time and enjoy troubleshooting
