Software Engineer II (Nexpose)

The Role

At Rapid7, we're looking for a Software Engineer II to join the IVM Nexpose team, working on our on-premise vulnerability management solution. If you have a strong development background and a passion for continuous learning and mentoring, you'll fit in perfectly.

As a Software Engineer II, you'll deliver high impact customer solutions to reduce the complexity of their vulnerability management programmes and workflows. From a technical perspective you'll be given the opportunity to work on the full-stack, from front-end user experiences, to a Spring backend and a Postgres database. You will also bring your development experience to help mentor junior team members along the way.

You will be able to further enhance your engineering skills through challenging projects, assisting with diagnosing production issues along with separate time set aside for innovation and learning. 

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside fellow engineers, product managers and UX, both locally and across the globe, to design, implement and release solutions that best fulfil our customers' needs.
  • Ability to follow software development best practices to ensure high quality
  • Write Unit, Integration and End-to-end tests to ensure your code is behaving appropriately.
  • Assist in debugging and resolving production issues
  • Mentor and guide other members of the team.

Skills

  • Object Oriented development experience with Java is required
  • Experience and understanding of testing is required
  • Experience with the following is preferred but not required:
    • Spring
    • SQL and Postgres
    • Javascript (React or similar framework)
    • Jenkins (or similar build tooling)
