Description
This High severity DoS (Denial of Service) vulnerability was introduced in versions 6.0.5 and 10.3.0 of Jira Software Data Center and Server.
This DoS (Denial of Service) vulnerability, with a CVSS Score of 7.7 and a CVSS Vector of
CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P/CR:X/IR:X/AR:X/MAV:X/MAC:X/MAT:X/MPR:X/MUI:X/MVC:X/MVI:X/MVA:X/MSC:X/MSI:X/MSA:X/S:X/AU:X/R:X/V:X/RE:X/U:X
allows an unauthenticated attacker to access local and remote content which has no impact to confidentiality, no impact to integrity, high impact to availability, and requires no user interaction.
Atlassian recommends that Jira Software Data Center and Server customers upgrade to latest version, if you are unable to do so, upgrade your instance to one of the specified supported fixed versions:
* Jira Software Data Center and Server 10.3: Upgrade to a release greater than or equal to 10.3.16
* Jira Software Data Center and Server 9.15: Upgrade to a release greater than or equal to 10.3.16
* Jira Software Data Center and Server 9.16: Upgrade to a release greater than or equal to 10.3.16
* Jira Software Data Center and Server 9.17: Upgrade to a release greater than or equal to 10.3.16

The National Vulnerability Database provides the following description for this vulnerability: Versions of the package cross-spawn before 6.0.6, from 7.0.0 and before 7.0.5 are vulnerable to Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) due to improper input sanitization. An attacker can increase the CPU usage and crash the program by crafting a very large and well crafted string.
