Description

An issue was discovered in Apport before 2.20.4. In apport/ui.py, Apport reads the CrashDB field and it then evaluates the field as Python code if it begins with a "{". This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary Python code.

Solution(s)

  • ubuntu-upgrade-apport
  • ubuntu-upgrade-apport-gtk
  • ubuntu-upgrade-apport-kde
  • ubuntu-upgrade-python-apport
  • ubuntu-upgrade-python3-apport

With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
