Evidence of infection with the W32/Sircam virus has been found on the system. This virus spreads along multiple vectors, including email and file shares. The virus can cause denial of service by filling up the hard drive of infected machines, or by overloading mail servers. There have been reports that, under some circumstances, the virus attempts to delete all files on the C:\ drive.
An additional risk is that the virus can mail random documents from the infected machine, possibly resulting in loss of privacy.
With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
