Our environmental strategy is intended as an overview of the efforts we are undertaking as a business and as a global participant in the fight against climate change.
At Rapid7 we are on a mission to advance diversity and inclusion.. We believe diverse teams are a key driver of creativity and innovation and that in addition to making better business decisions, they drive better business outcomes. We are committed to recruiting, retaining and developing high-performing, innovative and engaged employees with backgrounds and experiences as diverse as those of our customers. In 2018, we launched a diversity initiative (50/50 by 2020) to increase the number of under-represented groups (women and people of color) to half of the employee base in the United States by the end of 2020. We have also been named to the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index for 3 years running.
We strive to make the most successful security technologies and practices accessible to all, and in doing so it is our priority to ensure organizations have the information they need to trust Rapid7 as a security partner. Rapid7 has policies and procedures in place to keep our data, platform, and products secure, so that we can continue creating tools and services that keep our customers secure.
We aim to give back to the communities where we live and work. We partner with a variety of STEM and inclusion-focused programs to promote technology education for all. Beyond contributions of cash, we encourage employee volunteerism at all our locations by both designating a global day of service, as well as more concentrated work throughout the year. In 2020, working with the Tides Foundation, we created and funded the Rapid7 for Good Fund to direct charitable contributions to community organizations that focus on STEM education and diversity, equity and inclusion in technology, and in particular, cybersecurity.
At Rapid7, our mission is to close the security achievement gap and make the best security technology and practices available for all. For nonprofit organizations with big missions for doing good, we know that small teams and limited resources make closing the security achievement gap particularly challenging. As a result we try to make our technologies more accessible by offering discounts to eligible nonprofits so these organizations can advance securely while focusing more of their resources on pursuing the good they do in the world.
