Description

The "Code Red II" worm leaves a backdoor on certain machines running Windows 2000. The command interpreter 'cmd.exe' is copied to '\inetpub\scripts\root.exe' and to '\progra~1\common~1\system\MSADC\root.exe'. The backdoor can be accessed via these URLs:

  • /scripts/root.exe?/c+dir
  • /MSADC/root.exe?/c+dir

With Rapid7 live dashboards, I have a clear view of all the assets on my network, which ones can be exploited, and what I need to do in order to reduce the risk in my environment in real-time. No other tool gives us that kind of value and insight.
