Description

This module exploits a stack buffer overflow in Norton AntiSpam 2004. When sending an overly long string to the LaunchCustomRuleWizard() method of symspam.dll (2004.1.0.147) an attacker may be able to execute arbitrary code.

Module Options

To display the available options, load the module within the Metasploit console and run the commands 'show options' or 'show advanced':

msf > use exploit/windows/browser/nis2004_antispam
msf exploit(nis2004_antispam) > show targets
    ...targets...
msf exploit(nis2004_antispam) > set TARGET < target-id >
msf exploit(nis2004_antispam) > show options
    ...show and set options...
msf exploit(nis2004_antispam) > exploit

Time is precious, so I don’t want to do something manually that I can automate. Leveraging the Metasploit Framework when automating any task keeps us from having to re-create the wheel as we can use the existing libraries and focus our efforts where it matters.
